These old fashioned cookies have a sugar and cinnamon coating. I still remember how my great-grandmother always kept a big kettle full of home baked cookies in the kitchen and very often these were the treats that were found inside.

Ingredients

1 cup shortening
1-1/2 cup plus 2 tablespoon sugar
2 eggs
2-3/4 cup flour
2 teaspoon cream of tarter
1 teaspoon soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 teaspoon cinnamon

Directions

Cream together: 1 cup shortening, 1-1/2 cup sugar and 2 eggs.
Sift in: 2-3/4 cup flour, 2 teaspoon cream of tarter, 1 teaspoon soda and 1/2 teaspoon salt.
Mix ingredients together well. Roll into 1-1/4 inches balls and then roll balls in a mixture of 2 tablespoon of sugar and 2 teaspoon cinnamon. Place about 2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheet and press with fork. Bake 8 to 10 Minutes until lightly brown but soft in a 375 degree oven.
